Pet Hospice: Keeping Elder Animals Warm https://onehearthealingcenter.com/pet-hospice-keeping-elder-animals-warm/ https://onehearthealingcenter.com/pet-hospice-keeping-elder-animals-warm/#respond Sun, 08 Dec 2013 17:37:07 +0000 http://onehearthealingcenter.net/?p=5879 Are your elder animals warm and cozy? As animals and people age, our ability to regulate body temperature can decrease.  Adaptability to varying temperature is not as strong. Colder temperatures cause constriction, which slows down circulation, and tightens muscles. Decreases in circulation can show up as aches, pains in joints or muscles like arthritis, and […]

It has been awhile since I’ve included an “Animal Wisdom” so… I asked K. if I could pass along the message from her cat Tiggles. I was so moved by the wisdom of our conversation. …Whether you have an animal or not, everyone […]

Pet Loss: 3 Steps to Using Photography and Creativity to Ease Grief https://onehearthealingcenter.com/pet-loss-3-steps-to-using-photography-and-creativity-to-ease-grief/ https://onehearthealingcenter.com/pet-loss-3-steps-to-using-photography-and-creativity-to-ease-grief/#respond Sun, 03 Apr 2011 23:27:00 +0000 http://onehearthealingcenter.net/?p=3701 We do not often connect these things together, easing grief with photography and creativity. Engaging our creative side by gathering pictures, placing those photographs and then creating something new and different can have a potent impact to help ease the grief in our heart after an animal passes away. It is just that simple, and that difficult. Even taking small steps to create something to remember our loved one can go a very long way to helping our hearts. Each action we take can help our grief move and can help us begin shifting forward in our lives. Each act no matter how small or big can help us come to terms with our loss. My motto is, create something, anything at all.

Pet Loss: 10 Tips for Soothing Heartbreak https://onehearthealingcenter.com/pet-loss-10-tips-for-soothing-heartbreak/ https://onehearthealingcenter.com/pet-loss-10-tips-for-soothing-heartbreak/#comments Sat, 24 Jul 2010 20:15:16 +0000 http://theholisticanimal.wordpress.com/?p=774 Grief has its own rhythms and goes up, down and all around. Grief does not have a neat time schedule and it rears up sometimes when you least expect it. Sometimes it shows up months or even years later. Taking time to veg out, cry, write, talk… whatever you need do to help your heart and to honor the memory of your animal is all important. Take the time you need. Trust your instincts. Feelings of grief often do not fit into a neat package....and heartache takes time to mend.

Special Tribute to a Dog & Cat https://onehearthealingcenter.com/special-tribute-to-my-dog-cat/ https://onehearthealingcenter.com/special-tribute-to-my-dog-cat/#respond Fri, 02 Jul 2010 02:31:53 +0000 http://theholisticanimal.wordpress.com/?p=656 Her parting gift was to show me what it was like for someone to accept in the deepest sense, their end of life journey. She gradually, easily, with great ease and grace, showed how you can ebb out of your body to peacefully pass over. Thank you my friends for your many gifts through out all the years we shared together. May you rest and play in peace to your heart’s content. We are always and forever linked though our hearts.
