Many people don’t consider hypnosis as a means to lose weight because the word hypnosis often conjures up images of swinging watches or people clucking like chickens. But the truth is that clinical hypnosis can be a very effective tool for changing your habits.
You’ve Already Been Hypnotized Thousands of Times (and may not have realized it!)
Hypnosis is a natural state that we go in and out of many times each day. Examples of trance states include:
- Your mind wanders off while you’re driving, but you still arrive at your destination safely
- You experience feelings of fear, sadness, or excitement while watching a movie, even though you know it’s just a made up story
- You realize that your mind wandered off while listening to someone and you didn’t hear what he or she said
In clinical hypnosis, one simply learns how to enter a trance deliberately in order to work on particular issues. In this state, the mind and body are more open and receptive.
Willpower Doesn’t Work for Long Term Weight Control
You probably know what you need to do in order to lose weight: eat healthier, eat less food, and exercise more. But the reason why most people lose weight only to gain it back again, is because just going on a diet is only using your conscious mind, your willpower.
Studies have shown that willpower really only works for the short term. It simply is not very effective in changing habits for the long term.
The reason why is because our habits are stored at a deeper level of our mind, the subconscious mind. It is very difficult to change habits once they are stored in the subconscious mind.
So How Can Hypnosis Help You to Lose Weight?
With hypnosis, we have way to communicate with this deeper part of the mind, to get it to change those stubborn habits. For example, my weight loss clients report that after working with me they have:
- Decreased desire for unhealthy foods
- Increased desire for healthy foods
- Less mindless eating
- Increased motivation to exercise
- Better portion control
- Reduced emotional eating
Denise Lost 45 Pounds with Hypnosis
