Last week my parents were visiting and it was so wonderful to have them here. My folks are not animal people mind you. I did not grow up with any animals in the house, literally. No dogs, no cats, no gerbils not even a hamster. Just Goldfish, Guppies and a few of those little green Turtles from the pet store. None of which ever seemed to last very long in my care! Fortunately, my animal care skills have improved significantly! Just proof of what can be learned as we grow older.
My parents typically do not pet animals. Unlike me, who gazes at all the animals and wants to touch, my folks are at the other end of the spectrum. They love that I do things with the animals, but so long as they are not so involved, they are fine. Last weekend however, Haley, one of my wonder dogs, got both my parents to pet her, daily! And Scarlett, the Queen of Cats herself, persuaded my mother to pet her! I am so proud of my animal ambassadors and my parents!
When we visited my friend so I could help her with her young filly, my mother even joined in to help us. She walked along the fence line to attract Faith the filly’s attention while my friend Robin lead her. For the first time in my life, my mom was helping to train horses! Wonder of wonders. It was awesome.
My the connections continue.

Sometimes it takes a few years, but animals are truly the most amazing ambassadors of love, are they not? I wonder what your mom felt in her heart when she helped with Faith. It could only have been good.
